 I was really pleased with our first bestof northampton networking event
I kicked off a new networking lunch on 6th March and wow did we have a fantastic time. It was such a thrill to have 50 people in attendance. Some were best of members and others were guests. Now anyone who has organised an event will know that getting lots of people along to attend is quite a task. But with our huge network and popular web site, thebestof generated a fabulous turnout!
We met at Corkers Champagne & Cocktails bar in the centre of town. It's a lovely venue; very light and airy with friendly staff and easy to get to with plenty of free parking!
On arrival, people were registered and then provided with a complimentary drink. Just enough time to settle in before a high energy speed networking session! A great ice-breaker and way for people to meet plenty of faces and swap those sought after business cards!
Then we were on to lunch and the food was wonderful. Corkers did me proud with a wide selection of Tapas treats. People nibbled, chatted and networked for ages, either moving around the room or dotted on comfy sofas.
We officially wrapped up our session with some thank you's and a prize draw. Many people stayed on for ages, enjoying the hospitality and having one to one meetings.
Now I absolutely love organising and hosting these events. When the attendance is so high, the food good and the buzz in the room is electric it's so rewarding for me. I'm passionate about what I do, I take an interest in all my guests and my style of networking event is slightly different.
If you're new to networking I'll look after you personally, help you to feel at ease and meet some good people. I work very hard to promote my events all over the county, connecting people from a variety of businesses. If you hate to present panic not - you won't have to, we're very informal and friendly. No membership fee - pay as you go. If you're a seasoned networker, with 50 people still a great chance of meeting a new face. I love to mix and match people. What are you looking for? There's a chance I'll have a connection for you.
So how is all this sociable fun good for your business? Well I was delighted to see business done in the room all around me. Successes include:
Janice Ogle from Neon Magazine thanked me personally for being able to do business with 5 different people. Robert Moule of Robert Moule Garden Maintenance got a gardening job from another member - and I shall be using him too! Dawn Halsey from DL Maintenance has already completed work from a couple of people. Even fitting a cat flap for Colin from NatWest!
I've since signed up new members to thebestof and have had a stack of wonderful testimonials that you can see on thebestof Northampton website. If you were there too and have a success story I'd love to hear from you!
